Stage 2: Design and Component Selection

Based on the consultation, we specify the complete bill of materials. This is where our decade of SSD manufacturing experience really shows — component selection isn’t just about specs on paper.

NAND selection. We source exclusively from tier-1 fabs — Samsung, Kioxia, SK Hynix, Micron. But which specific NAND? That depends on your endurance requirements, temperature range, and cost target. Different NAND technologies — SLC, MLC, TLC — offer different balances of endurance, density, and cost. We pick the optimal match, not just whatever’s cheapest or most available.

Controller selection. The controller determines what firmware features are possible. Some controllers handle AES encryption in hardware; others don’t.
